Born in Smedjebacken, Dalarna 1975 I Lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden.
With an infallible sense of hues and lighting, together with a meticulous craftsmanship, the scenography is made co-star to the leading characters in Helena Blomqvist’s images. The meticulously designed sceneries suggest influences from such disparate sources such as early examples of photomontage and film noir. There is a touch of melancholy inherent to many of the works by Helena Blomqvist.
Helena Blomqvist studied at the School of Photography and Film Gothenburg (1997-2002). Helena Blomqvist's work has been shown in numerous solo exhibitions, including at Trelleborgs Museum, 2015; Skelefteå Art Gallery, 2013; Bror Hjorths Hus, Stockholm, 2013; Photographic, Stockholm, Wagner + Partner Gallery, Berlin, Germany, 2008, Kulturhuset, Stockholm, 2007.
Works by Helena Blomqvist is represented in the collections of, among other things, Moderna Museet, Stockholm; Hasselblad Foundation, Gothenburg and Boras Art Museum.
